GPSX 65' Rebuilt Orthner

XQS is proud to present its first almost completely independently built railcar!

Living and working in the Pacific Northwest, the forest industry has always been a big part of my life — especially whenever it intersects with trains. This release features a special type of railcar: the Orthner Rebuilt 65’ Skeleton Car.

These cars are used across the Northwest, East Coast, and Southeast to move logs from one location to another. Small fleets are owned by many major companies in the forest products industry, but Georgia-Pacific operates the largest group, and their cars see service in more regions than most.

Because these railcars have been rebuilt many times with little standardization, I’ve aimed to capture a representative general type rather than one exact prototype. In reality, they often see minimal maintenance and rarely look clean or uniform. The included paint liveries reflect that — featuring heavy weathering, faded numbering, and bark-texture decals along the flat surfaces to give a used, realistic appearance.

This pack includes two load variants, both based on real-world loading techniques. It also includes a developer pack to make repainting easier and provides a reference model for those interested in creating additional load variations.
